Shelter Drawing

Welcome To Compass

Compass House exists to provide safe shelter and services to Runaway and Homeless youth (RHY). Clients of Compass House voluntarily enter the shelter or engage in case management through the Resource Center. All services are aimed at preventing the client’s decline into chronic homelessness while promoting a more stable and productive living situation.

Resource Center gets a facelift

By lunchtime on Wednesday, Aug. 19 the 26 volunteers from Delaware North were covered with splatters of green paint, had fingernails full of dirt and wore big smiles on their faces. These hard working people were participants in this year's United Way Day of Caring. The task was to paint the entire outside of our Resource Center. And paint they did! They climbed ladders, trimmed windows, painted pipes and poles and rolled to their hearts content. The result - a beautifully updated building to welcome the youth we serve. Volunteers also did some gardening and cleaned up all the weeds in the flowerbeds. Others took on a real challenge and organized and sorted through the donations. Now our clothes closets for babies, children and youth are all neat and orderly.

We appreciate all of your hard work and enjoyed meeting all of you. Thank you!!!

NEWSLETTER CORRECTION -- Thank you AbsoluteGoo!

This past June, Compass House's good friends, AbsoluteGoo.com, a Goo Goo Dolls support site,  hosted their 7th annual online auction to benefit our programs for runaway and homeless youth. For the 2009 auction Goo fans poured onto Ebay and the Absolute Goo site to bid on an autographed guitar donated by the band, some incredible artwork donated by Buffalo's own Bob Mussell and over 100 other rock n' roll memorabilia items donated by Goo fans and other artists. But the highlight of this year's auction had to be band members John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin each donating a personal phonecall to a lucky bidder!  Auction organizers report that all three members had great things to say about Compass House.

In 2009 over $20,000 was raised on the AbsoluteGoo.com site to support Compass House. From fundraising through the auction to general awareness-raising on the AG site, the support of the Goo Goo Dolls’ fan community has made an incredible impact on our ability to serve young people at the crossroads of hope and hopelessness – all of whom are looking for new directions and better lives. Our heartfelt thanks to all involved for their tremendous work on behalf of our kids.
