Compass House Supporters:

Thanks for a Fantastic Halloween Party!

Friday October 30th marked our innaugural Halloween party at the Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls and we were thrilled to celebrate with so many of our dear friends.  Compass House sends special thanks to Rob Mazurkiewicz and the entire crew at Buffalo Bands for the Homeless for putting on an amazing show for us.  Fight the Current, REV, Leroy Townes, Alan Whitney and Dee Adams played incredible sets and donated every performance, including the time it took to organize the night's program.  Thanks also go to Sue Swiatkowski and the staff at the Hard Rock who hosted us and did a tremendous job creating a rocking, creepy atmosphere - the service was impeccable and made everything look easy!  We hope all who attended (especially those who came in costume - you rock!) enjoyed the evening and THANK YOU for everything you do for our kids.

**NEWSLETTER CORRECTION** -- THANK YOU ABSOLUTEGOO.COM!

This past June, Compass House's good friends, AbsoluteGoo.com, a Goo Goo Dolls support site,  hosted their 7th annual online auction to benefit our programs for runaway and homeless youth. For the 2009 auction Goo fans poured onto Ebay and the Absolute Goo site to bid on an autographed guitar donated by the band, some incredible artwork donated by Buffalo's own Bob Mussell and over 100 other rock n' roll memorabilia items donated by Goo fans and other artists. But the highlight of this year's auction had to be band members John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin each donating a personal phonecall to a lucky bidder!  Auction organizers report that all three members had great things to say about Compass House.

In 2009 over $20,000 was raised on the AbsoluteGoo.com site to support Compass House. From fundraising through the auction to general awareness-raising on the AG site, the support of the Goo Goo Dolls’ fan community has made an incredible impact on our ability to serve young people at the crossroads of hope and hopelessness – all of whom are looking for new directions and better lives. Our heartfelt thanks to all involved for their tremendous work on behalf of our kids.

Buffalo Whiskerino hosts fundraiser for Compass House

Last year, Buffalo Whiskerino, a fundraising organization, sponsored a mustache growing contest to benefit Compass House. Brave men were recruited to clean shave and then check in on a regular basis to check teh status of their growing facial hair. In the end, the group brought in $4,000 and donated it to Compass House. This year, they have graciously chosen to donate the proceeds from this fun event to Compass House once again. Details are on this colorful poster (below) designed by one the members of the Whiskerino organization. Additional information can be found at their website: www.buffalowhiskerino.org.
