Volunteering at Compass House

Compass House relies heavily on volunteers and interns to assist us in our mission to keep kids in crisis safe.  Volunteer assistance in our daily operations is critical - from meal preparation, housekeeping and grounds maintenance to administrative support and recreational opportunities with our young clients.  Have an hour to spare?  A week to fill?  A longer service project to complete for school or a certification program?  Compass House has a volunteer opportunity for you.

COMPASS HOUSE VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION:

Ideal candidates are responsible for assisting the Youth Counselors (at the Shelter) and the Case Managers (at the Resource Center) in ensuring a safe, positive atmosphere at Compass House that will enhance the self-esteem of residents.   Are you responsible, caring and committed?  Do you enjoy interactions with young people - rain or shine?  Fill out this form or contact Sierra Johnston at (716) 886-1351 or email [email protected] for more information.

SAFE PLACE VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Safe Place Volunteer, under the direction of the agency supervisors, serves as a liaison between Compass House and designated Safe Place sites in the community.  This is accomplished by providing immediate assistance to youth that seek help though Project Safe Place and transporting these youth to Compass House's Emergency Shelter where trained counselors receive them.  Fill out this form or contact Sierra Johnston at (716) 886-1351 or email [email protected] for more information.

All volunteers require an interview with an agency director

and a criminal background check to ensure the safety of our kids.
